WHY THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR
Quantum queering is not one field borrowing a little glamour from another. Barad makes the strong version of the claim: the queerness is not ours, projected onto matter. It is matter’s own. If queerness is in the nature of spacetimemattering, then it is not a deviation from the natural order — it is the natural order, and “acts against nature” becomes an incoherent charge.
Barad also names the reaction: panicked attempts to contain, tame, or normalize what will not stay contained. We know that reflex. It is the same one that built the behaviorist clinic and the compliance classroom, one scale down.
